�԰����� will hold its winter commencement for 122 graduates at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in Laurie Auditorium. Sixty-five students will receive a bachelor’s degree and 57 students will receive a master’s in education or a master’s in healthcare administration.

Heather I. Sullivan, professor of German in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, will deliver the commencement address. She received the Dr. and Mrs. Z.T. Scott Faculty Fellowship Award during the Spring 2016 commencement. The award is given annually for excellence in teaching, advising, and service to students.

Graduating senior Weiyu “Will” Lin of China will speak on behalf of his fellow students at commencement. Lin, who is believed to be the first international student speaker, will receive a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and French literature and civilization.

Lin said he is honored to have been chosen as the student speaker, recalling being inspired by another Chinese student who spoke at a different American university’s commencement. “It felt truly special that I became the person whom I admired and wished to be a few years ago,” he said. To prepare, he spent 20 hours writing four draft speeches and sought critiques from two people.
