ÐÔ°®ÌìÌà is pleased to present the 2018-19 Stieren Arts Enrichment Series, which brings to campus a distinguished array of outstanding leaders in the fields of art, music, drama, communication, literature, art history and aesthetics. The series begins on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018 and culminates on Monday, April 8, 2019.

Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, 7 p.m., Stieren Theater
Andrea Cavarra is a commedia dell’arte speciaist, which is a unique theatrical style that grew out of the folk arts of mask-making, clowning, acrobatics, puppetry, and improvisation into a beloved art form whose influence on theatrical art is incalculable. 

Monday, Oct. 29 2018, 4 p.m., Ruth Taylor Recital Hall
Guest artists Williams, baritone, and Fan, piano, will present a masterclass featuring ÐÔ°®ÌìÌà vocal students. Williams is renowned as a fine exponent of contemporary music. Fan has performed on five continents as a soloist and chamber musician.

Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, 7:30 p.m., Ruth Taylor Recital Hall
Artists Williams, baritone, and Fan, piano, will present "A Century of Song." The recital celebrates 100 years of art song, with a focus on Hubert Parry and Claude Debussy.

Williams, a baritone, is renowned as a fine exponent of contemporary music and has made many commercial recordings, including more than ten solo discs of songs.

Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, 7:30 p.m., Chapman Center, Great Hall
Higgins is a professor of philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin. Her lecture will explore artistic devices and aesthetic strategies that help communicate the bizarre phenomenology of bereavement, thus enabling empathy for those not directly acquainted with this kind of loss. 

Saturday, Feb. 2, 2018, 1p.m., Ruth Taylor Recital Hall
The quartet will present a masterclass that will feature both ÐÔ°®ÌìÌà students as well as members of the San Antonio community. They are a pioneering and versatile group winning newfound enthusiasm for its art form.

New Country Saxophone Quartet have been heard in major concert venues in Los Angeles, New York, and Amsterdam, and on radio and television in the United States, Europe, and Central America.

Coron has been exploring visual storytelling in artist books, paper cutting, and public art, and adapts her papercut designs in metal, stone, and glass.

Cho presents a violin masterclass that will feature members of the ÐÔ°®ÌìÌà violin studio. She has captured numerous awards and captivated audiences around the world, and is exploring new ways to bring classical music to young audiences in Asia and North America.

The ÐÔ°®ÌìÌà Symphony Orchestra presents a special performance featuring Cho playing the Dvořák Violin Concerto, as well as a performance of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

Monday, April 8, 2019, 8 p.m., Chapman Center, Great Hall
Olds is the author of numerous collections of poetry, including Stag’s Leap, which won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize and the T. S. Eliot Prize.
