�԰�����’s Board of Trustees is proud to announce the election of four new trustees who begin their service to the University on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, at the first Board of Trustees meeting of the 2019-20 academic year. The newly elected trustees, all of them women, include Ruth Kelleher Agather,��Annell R. Bay ’77,��Jelynne LeBlanc Burley M’88, and Cydney C. Donnell. Since the appointment of President Danny J. Anderson four years ago, the Board has recruited 11 new trustees, eight of whom are women.

These new trustees bring a wealth of experience and knowledge that will help �԰����� continue cultivating a community of lifelong learners driven by a sense of duty to themselves and the world,” said L. Herbert Stumberg Jr. ’81, chair of �԰�����'s Board.

Agather is a partner with the law firm of Rosenthal Pauerstein Sandoloski Agather LLP in San Antonio. She has practiced law for 35 years. Her decades of service to the community includes such as institutions as The University of Texas Law School Foundation Board of Trustees, the Texas Business Hall of Fame, The Witte Museum, and Saint Mary’s Hall. She received her bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and her juris doctorate degree from the University of Texas School of Law.

Bay brings more than 35 years experience in the upstream oil and gas industries, and served as vice president of global exploration for Marathon Oil Corporation before her retirement in 2014. She now serves as chairman of the corporate governance committee for Apache Corporation in Houston, and also serves as the chair of the remuneration committee for Hunting PLC in London, United Kingdom, and as the chair of the compensation committee for Verisk Analytics. Bay received her bachelor’s degree in geology from �԰����� in 1977 and her master’s in geology from the University of Texas at Austin. 

Burley is president and CEO of the Center for Health Care Services, the mental health authority for Bexar County. She also served as executive vice president and chief delivery officer for CPS Energy and as deputy city manager for the City of San Antonio. She is actively involved in several professional and nonprofit organizations, including the United Way of San Antonio. Burley holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Southern University and a master’s degree in urban studies from �԰����� in 1988. 

Donnell is the Julio S. LaGuarata Professor in Real Estate and executive professor and associate department head of finance at the Mays School of Business at Texas A&M University in College Station. Prior to teaching at Texas A&M, she was the managing director for European Investors, Inc. in New York City. In addition to her duties at Texas A&M, Donnell serves on the boards of American Campus Communities, a publicly traded REIT (real estate investment trust) and leader in the student housing industry, and Pebblebrook Hotel REIT, a publicly traded owner of US hotels. She holds a degree in finance from Texas A&M and received her MBA from Southern Methodist University.

�԰����� is governed by up to 36 Trustees who are responsible for establishing policies for the governance of the University. The University continues to benefit from the leadership of a highly effective and engaged Board of Trustees, comprised of individuals with diverse experience and backgrounds.
