The first production of the 2016-2017 �԰����� Theatre season explores the provocative topic of sexual assault on college campuses in Good Kids by Naomi Iizuka.

Commissioned as part of the Big Ten Consortium New Play Initiative in 2014, Good Kids is loosely based on the Steubenville High School rape case of 2012. Set at a Midwestern high school, in a world of Facebook,Twitter, YouTube, and smartphones, Good Kids explores a casual sexual encounter gone wrong and the very public aftermath. Who's telling the truth? Whose version of the story do you believe? And what does that say about you?

“The issue of sexual assault has long been a part of the cultural climate on college campuses,” says Director Kyle Gillette ’01, associate professor of human communication and theatre at �԰�����, says,. “Recent events, such as Brock Turner’s 2016 sexual assault conviction and early release from prison, have pushed the issue into the mainstream once again. This production delves into significant topics such as rape culture, gender and sexuality, student sports and alcohol, and how communities respond to sexual assaults, especially in this age of social media.”

Good Kids opens the weekend of Sept. 30 – Oct. 2 and will continue Oct. 5 – 8 in the Stieren Theatre, located in the Ruth Taylor Theatre Building on the �԰����� campus. The department welcomes the community to attend “talk back” interactive sessions with the cast and production team immediately following the performances on Oct. 1, 6, 7, and 8.

Curtain times are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Sunday, and 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, faculty, staff, and �԰����� alumni, and $6 for Students. Tickets can be purchased online at tinyurl.com/trinityutheatre and at the theatre box office from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
