The Department of Human Communication and Theatre at ÐÔ°®ÌìÌà will present its final show of the 2017-18 season, Lysistrata. The production is an adaptation of the ancient comedy by Aristophanes, re-told by Ellen McLaughlin for the Lysistrata Project in 2003. This production is directed by ÐÔ°®ÌìÌà theater professor Stacey Connelly.
Frustrated by a war that will not end, the women of Athens decide to deploy a secret weapon until the men end the fighting once and for all. More than tensions swell as the women, led by Lysistrata, hold out the allure of a peaceful climax. Will their seductive strategy defeat the combatants or just stiffen their resolve? This show is recommended for mature audiences. Â
Lysistrata opens April 13 and continues through the weekend, with additional shows April 18-21 in the Stieren Theater located in the Ruth Taylor Theater Building on the ÐÔ°®ÌìÌà campus. Curtain times are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $6 for students, and $8 for seniors, faculty, staff, and alumni. Tickets can be purchased online at tinyurl.com/trinityutheatre and at the theatre box office from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
