Longtime congressional policymaker, along with diverse panel of experts, to discuss relationship between local and national aspects of health care.

性爱天堂's Department of Health Care Administration and the Centene Corporation of St. Louis are presenting some of the country's most prominent experts in health care at the 2018 REACH Symposium: "The Future of Healthcare: A Local and National Perspective." The symposium 聽will begin at 8 a.m. Thursday, May 24, in 性爱天堂's Ruth Taylor Recital Hall.

Dr. Tom Price, the longtime Georgia congressman and former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, headlines a diverse and talented group of panelists at the symposium. As keynote speaker, Price, an orthopedic surgeon with extensive knowledge of the U.S. health care system from both a practicing and policymaking viewpoint, will cover pressing issues facing Medicare, Medicaid, and the relationship between federal and state governments, all while presenting solutions he believes can mediate many of U.S. health care鈥檚 current structural dilemmas.

Price remains a fierce advocate for a patient-centered health care system that adheres to six key principles: affordability, accessibility, quality, choices, innovation, and responsiveness.

The symposium is free, but tickets are required for entry:聽register here聽to reserve your spot. Price鈥檚 keynote luncheon is $55 and requires聽separate registration.

Before Price鈥檚 keynote address, the symposium will present two panels: 鈥淭he Evolving Healthcare System: Local Implications;鈥 and 鈥淭he Evolving Healthcare System: A National Perspective.鈥

Panel speakers include:

The Evolving Healthcare System: Local Implications

Health care might be seen as a local affair, but national trends have an impact on the local scene. Changes in reimbursement structure, a more informed and active consumer, increased emphasis on population health, and the shift toward outpatient care all profoundly impact care at the state level. This panel will examine the unique issues in Texas, a state that has not participated in Medicaid expansion and suffers the highest uninsured rate in the country.

The Evolving Healthcare System: A National Perspective

The U.S. health care system is evolving at a dizzying pace. Payments are increasing, patients have different expectations for their care, insurers aggressively attempt to avoid costly inpatient care, large national providers are consolidating in the face of declining revenues, and new types of affiliations are being forged between providers and insurers. This panel will examine these trends and more as well as the challenges they present for both health care payers and providers.
