When he was introduced at a ceremony in April to receive a Heart of �԰����� Student Service Award, Davis King ’18 was described as “Mr. �԰�����.” He went on to be named Outstanding Senior in Sport Management before graduating in May with a major in business administration and a finance concentration and minors in sport management and economics. Bonus: this native of Columbia, S.C., already has a job with Andeavor as an analyst for the oil refining, marketing, and logistics company based in San Antonio. What is your favorite memory from your time at �԰�����?

My favorite memory was attending the NCAA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in January. I went with two other �԰����� student-athletes to represent fellow members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) through discussions around new proposals and amendments to the NCAA Division III legislation. Through this experience, I was able to see firsthand the unique voting process, interactions between student-athletes and athletic administrators, and create new friendships with student-athletes from across the country.

Who was your favorite professor or what was your favorite class at �԰�����?

I took professor Jacob Tingle’s “Sport in London” class from December 2017 to January 2018. Through this program I was able to take a closer look at the many cultural differences that exist outside of the United States, whether it be through business, athletics, or everyday life.

Is there something you regret not pursuing while at �԰�����?

I wish I would have applied for a Residential Life position. I believe that working in one of these positions would have allowed me to play a larger role in assisting underclassmen in their transition to college and serving as a mentor.

Engaging, diverse, challenging, and fulfilling

Do you have a favorite hobby?

My favorite hobby is also one of my hidden talents—ping pong, also known as table tennis. In middle school I asked my mom for a ping pong table for Christmas instead of a winter jacket, and I have been playing ever since. Over the past four years, I have had the opportunity to play a lot of high-level ping pong against a large range of competition. This past spring I was finally able to win my first ping pong intramural tournament.

What advice would you give to a �԰����� student?

• Get involved / Try something new
• Get to know your professors / Go to office hours
• Support other organizations and athletics
• Study abroad before or during your junior year
• Get off campus and explore your city
• You only get four years, and it goes by quick. Make the most of your time.

What sound do you love? The sound you hate?

I love the sound of waves breaking. It makes me think of a sunny day at the beach. I hate any alarm noises and ringtones. Waking up at 6 a.m. for football never got easier.

What is your favorite color and why?

Grey. It is the color I have the most of in my closet, and it goes with everything.

Where would you like to retire?

Somewhere in Florida. I was born in Jacksonville, and a lot of my family lives in different cities across the state. From the large selection of beaches, golf courses, and theme parks, there would always be plenty for me to do and stay busy.

Favorite thing about San Antonio?

My favorite thing about San Antonio is definitely �԰�����. After that I would have to go with either the people, the weather, or breakfast tacos.
