After a 50-year relationship with Aramark, �԰����� has announced that Chartwells Higher Education, a division of Compass Group, will be the University’s new dining services provider starting June 1, 2023.

“Our partnership with Aramark has been just that. A true partnership that spanned decades,” says Bruce Bravo, senior director of Conferences and Special Programs. “The Aramark team has become part of the �԰����� community, and though this announcement signals a change, we are pleased to share that the Chartwells team will provide all Aramark associates an opportunity to remain in their current roles.”

Chartwells was selected after an extensive RFP (request for proposal) and review process that included students, faculty, and staff. We believe we have found a partner to work collaboratively with the University to develop a customized dining program that genuinely reflects �԰�����’s unique campus culture and community values.

Aramark’s most recent five-year contract ends on May 31. Thus, during the next three months, Chartwells will begin officially transitioning and preparing the dining program for the fall semester on June 1.

“We are excited about the possibilities with Chartwells,” says Sheryl Tynes, Ph.D., vice president for Student Life. “The University conducted a transparent, competitive RFP to solicit proposals from interested suppliers. The committee that evaluated the proposals was impressed with Chartwell’s hospitality-focused partnership and commitment to make campus dining a central part of what makes �԰����� distinctive in higher education.”

Chartwells was ultimately selected for its expertise in the higher education industry, plans for a reimagined Mabee Dining Hall, and ability to serve students in innovative and meaningful ways.

“The suppliers were evaluated on a wide variety of criteria including proposed changes to the residential dining program, company values, commitment to social and environmental justice, and approach to retail operations,” says Demi Brown, dean of students.

While the mix of retail options is still being decided, �԰����� will continue to offer national brands on campus, including Starbucks and Einstein Bros. Bagels. The University, in partnership with Chartwells, is also working on several local partnerships.��

During the next few months, there will be forums and other campus opportunities to meet the Chartwells team and learn more about their vision for dining at �԰�����, including information about student employment and internship opportunities that will be announced in August.
