The Center for Experiential Learning and Career Success (CELCS) at �԰����� will host its inaugural Experiential Learning Showcase on Oct. 9 in Room 282 of the Center for the Sciences and Innovation (CSI). The showcase will feature the projects of 14 �԰����� students who have engaged in experiential learning through civic involvement, internships, undergraduate research, and study abroad opportunities.

Jacob Tingle ’95, director of experiential learning, says CELCS is excited to present the “exceptional work” that �԰����� students are in doing with experiential learning. The goal is for the showcase to become a regular event during Alumni Weekend.

“As an alumnus, I continue to be blown away at the quality of our students’ work and the thoughtfulness with which they approach learning,” Tingle says. “I am particularly excited that some of the students participating in the showcase engaged in research with humanities faculty and completed internships with local nonprofits.”

Erin Hood ’03, assistant director of experiential learning, adds that an important component of the showcase is student reflection about their internships and experiences.

“Through reflection, students process what was meaningful about their experience, the skills they might have gained, or how the experience might influence their personal or professional direction,” Hood says.

From 9 to 10 a.m. a poster session will take place that is intended to serve as a “jumping off point” for dialogue. At 10 a.m. three students will give audiovisual presentations.
