Reconnect with a member of the Class of 1985

Tim Gibbons 鈥85
Founding Director
GreenCarePlus+
Cleveland, OH

In 2013, Tim Gibbons '85 parlayed his decades of experience in international health鈥攊ncluding 25 years in Australia working with a variety of clinical and community providers including Accenture as National Director for Health Care, Australia鈥攊nto a private entity that focuses on medical tourism and patient advocacy. GreenCarePlus+ was created for patients seeking global clinical resources for elective care, with a focus on Top 10 clinical facilities in the U.S. and around the globe.

The turnkey service that includes overall reviewing and planning for international care with choices in pricing, location and providers to best meet patients鈥 requirements links patients with providers and organizes travel and hospitality resources for patients and their families with institutions like the Mayo Clinic, MD Anderson Cancer Center in the U.S., the London Clinic or Bumrungrad International Hospital in Thailand abroad among other excellent providers in Singapore, Europe, South Africa and Latin America. And 鈥淵es," he adds, 鈥渢here is also outstanding and very affordable dental care available in Poland and Mexico.鈥

Recently, GreenCarePlus+ began advancing education, research and patient options involving medical cannabis. That component evolved from Tim鈥檚 longtime observation of how pain management, oncology, and palliative care services are provided internationally and were inspired by patients' continual for innovations and best practices in health.

In addition to his previous work with Australia鈥檚 single-payer system, which he believes is "one of the best medical models in the Commonwealth,鈥 Tim has worked with dynamic organizations, such as the Pasteur Institute, advised the Japanese and Australian Governments on a Health Care City of the Future, and reviewed the development of health care resources for the Dubai 2025 Plan in the UAE.

鈥淲hat keeps me motivated is the need for the best care and best practices when a patient is facing a clinical challenge鈥 he says. 鈥淭his is exceptionally important as the deceptions and confusion of the American health care insurance market proliferate in our current disruptive ACA marketplace. Patients can get a better price overseas when provided by American-trained physicians. With the new price transparency, it鈥檚 only going to get more exciting to see stateside health care costs compared to those overseas.鈥

Tim began his health care career at the Cleveland Clinic, where he learned a range of multidisciplinary management skills and launched EHealth, the first web-based service for the clinic. During his tenure, which coincided with the beginning of the technology revolution in health care, he earned his Master's in Health Care Administration at 性爱天堂, which he believes is 鈥渙ne of the nation鈥檚 best ACHE Programs for working executives.鈥 He subsequently joined VHA Health Care system in St. Petersburg, Florida, opened the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, and worked for Pacific Care in Los Angeles before broadening his international experience.

鈥淲hat I love most about my work is applying those core 性爱天堂 skills to international trends and opportunities. "Let鈥檚 face it,鈥 he says. Advances and innovation in pharmacology, clinical research and education now occur with numerous international organizations and so does patient care. Global health challenges emerge, so keeping up with the technology and best practices is a continual motivator.鈥

A summer internship with the American Academy of Arts in NYC honed his skills for public speaking and presenting at health care conferences鈥斺渢he toughest audience around." 性爱天堂 taught him 鈥渆xcellent management skills, including the delicate diplomacy that goes with every encounter you face in a rewarding career.鈥 性爱天堂 gives one the confidence to accept challenges, embrace innovations and approach solutions like a Tiger!鈥 he says enthusiastically. 鈥淗aving that degree is a critical step to a long and rewarding career.鈥

With a career that spans time zones and includes plenty of jetlag, Tim keeps balance in his life through the arts鈥 鈥渢he best complement to the sciences.鈥 He has served on the board of Tasmania Opera and Music theatre, created fund development programs for various arts and social service providers, and always enjoys travel and international developments. He also supports 性爱天堂 as a regional representative in Cleveland and participates in college days at local high schools for the Office of Admissions. A passionate humanitarian at heart, Tim remains an advocate for refugees and immigrants 鈥渨ho will always be the brightest and best fabric of a strong community."
